EMILY SMITH

Emily Smith is a Sports Podiatrist with over 20 years of experience, driven by a passion for applying research and clinical insight to innovate the outdated insole and footwear industries. Her sports medicine career began in 2007 when she became a Partner at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre - an opportunity that opened the door to working with elite sporting organisations including with the Wallabies, NSW Swifts, GWS Giants AFLW & Netball, Bangarra Dance Theatre, NSW Institute of Sport, the Philippines Women’s FIFA team, Olympians and countless high-performance individuals.

In 2023, Emily was appointed as the Sports Podiatrist Medical Advisor for the WTA, a role that was created for her. Emily supports the top 200 women’s tennis players throughout the year, travelling globally, designing custom shoes, prescribing custom made orthotics, and teaching the best brains in the business as an integral part of the WTA’s high performance team.

In late 2024, Emily co-founded Biomechanica—a bespoke sports medicine space designed to balance complete wellbeing with sporting excellence, bringing the elite training room experience to Sydney’s active community.

Emily is passionate about helping individuals return to sport efficiently and emerge as stronger, more resilient athletes. Her modern orthotic philosophy combines extensive clinical experience with the latest in 3D printing technology for orthotics that work to resolve pain whilst enhancing optimal motion of the foot.

Utilising her decades of experience and capturing research that identifies the underlying cause of high heel pain, Emily has developed an innovative line of insoles to provide comfort and support in any style of shoe.
